Steiger ST525 TIGER
This picture is of a Steiger ST525 TIGER, which was located
at a dealership just south of where I live. It has the 1150
CI Cummins motor. As of now I do not know the whereabouts of
this tractor, but it was in very good condition, as it had a
new motor and paint on it. I kindof found this to be a RARE
Re: Steiger ST525 TIGER
Surely it's a Tiger III and as we all know there're only 2
models of Tiger III:ST450 & ST470. So the owner must have
upgraded its engine and got an awesome 525hp...

Re: Steiger ST525 TIGER
This is a TRUE ST525, as I said they are very rare, it was
not an upgrade, it is the green version of what was to
become the CaseIH 9190s, which were also 525 hp.
Re: Steiger ST525 TIGER
Actually it is a Series III Steiger. IN 1976 they started
selling the ST450 with a Cat engine. And through the 1976
farm shows the Tiger took on a new name. The Series III
Steiger was advertised as a STT485. They never could get
that HP out of the Cummins and in 1977 started selling it as
a ST470. Most people do not remember this Tiger because it
was sitting next to the Steiger ST650!! (I have several
pics of it. Steiger Tigers are my favorite from the first,
800, to the last Tiger IV.) Then in 1984 Steiger introduced
the series IV line. The top of the line being the Steiger
Tiger IV with 525HP. It used the same 1,150-cu-in.,
6-cylinder, Turbocharged Aftercooled Cummins as the Tiger
III ST470. The only difference is that they were now
getting 525HP out of it. When that happened, a lot of
Series III Tigers were sent in for "updates". Turning the
Series III Tigers into 525HP monsters. I have several
"Steiger News" that advertise these updates. The tractor
above with it's new paint, and new engine is one of these.
The series IV Steiger with it's black frame (not green),
Wide angled hood (not straight sides), 2 headlights (not
four), "Steiger" name between the headlights (not low on the
frame), it's single slope hood (not double sloped to the
front), became the CASEIH tractor we all know as the CaseIH
9190. But to be sure, we would need a serial #.

Re: Steiger ST525 TIGER
Anyway, the Steiger above has all characristics of series
Steiger Tiger III, the hood, cab, fender and the narrow
bumper mounted low(only Tiger III has such a kind of
As we can see the Tiger IV and the 9190 are really identical
ones just with different colors, and they bear the same
character of series IV Steigers, one of which is the
newly-designed hood that looks a little like the Steiger
1000 series's. I think 4WDMan has made it clear above. BTW,
Steiger Tiger IV KP525 began production around 1983.
