Hope for the future.......
As everyone world wide is probably aware, we here in
England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland have been literally
closed down since the outbreak of this horrific virus called
foot and mouth. To date there have been 73 confirmed cases,
and 77 thousand animals slaughtered and burned in order to
try and wipe out this virus. It has been a living nightmare,
not only for the farmers, but for people like us who have
livestock as pets. Totally helpless to do much of anything
other than to sit and wait to see if the virus spreads down
farther and puts your own animals at risk. Still on the
Dartmoor National Park, 25 thousand farm animals who graze
freely are under observation, as are all the wildlife in the
area, and the wild ponies.
But there is a glimmer of light at the end of this firey
tunnel we have all been living in, this is the first morning
we have awoke to the news that there have been no more new
confirmed cases. Far from over, but at least there is, and
we feel a touch of HOPE again !
Thank you everyone who has sent messages and given such
wonderful support, your prayers are very much
appreciated...! Keep it up please, we are not out of the
woods yet !
With thanks
Mary Alice

Re: Hope for the future.......
It is months down the road and still we are facing outbreaks
of foot and mouth all over the country in places where
outbreaks have not happened before...far from over and known
now how badly this crisis was handled by the government
right from the start ........over three and a half MILLION
animals have been killed....many of them healthy, many pets
also ............instead of using the vaccination right from
the start, and instead of introducing it now ...they
continue to kill ...and everything. The news about it is
less and less and facts more difficult to find out, but when
I can, I keep the public informed and up to date. If you
want to know and keep up to date with this crisis here in
England, you can go to my site on webshots.com, in the
community section listed under
maryaliceflessapollard...there you will find an album
dedicated to the coverage of the Foot and Mouth.
