County 1174
Today the County population of Salcombe has doubled with the
addition of this very original '78 1174.:-)
Re: County 1174
What a beauty she is. How many hours she has runned?:-P
Are you gonna make some work with it?
Re: County 1174
In all the tractor starts and drives very well with no slop
in the steering. Its got 4947 hours on the clock and we've
every reason to believe they are genuine. The Michelin tyres
I know were fitted in March 1982 and are only half worn.
Re: County 1174
Very impressive there Richard, It looks in really good
condition. Got any plans for work on it? Whats the history
of it?
Re: County 1174

The tractor seems pretty straight and everything points to
the 4,945 hours on the clock being genuine.....not bad for a
tractor sold to a farmer in Norfolk in April '79 who traded
it in late '81 at which point it then arrived to Dave
Gittins' yard in Shropshire. He changed the 12x38s for the
14x34s and sold it on to a farmer in the area. It changed
hands again - staying in Shropshire - in 1999 to the
previous owner who decided to sell it this its
'retired' to the Monte Carlo of Britain - sunny Salcombe :-)

Mechanically there doesn't seem much needed doing [knock on
wood], however I desperately need one part-worn Michelin Bib
X tyre as one had damage to the sidewall/bead area and now
it looks a bit odd with one well-worn Kleber and 3 half worn
There's a bit of rust coming in the doors but nothing to be
alarmed about - at least a blind man would like to see it.

We're hoping to do some late cut silage this week [weather
permitting] so it should get chance to run the round baler.
