Grain comes from as far as North Dakota to Lewiston, Idaho
to be barged down the Clearwater-Snake-Columbia Rivers to
Portland, Oregon for foreign sales by ship. Dams have made
the rivers navigable. Same route as travelled by Lewis and
Clark expedition 200 years ago after being saved from
starvation by the local Nez Perce Indians.
