IH 51 hillside
IH hillside 51 built from the 30's to early 50's well into
the selfpropelled age. These combines had more capacity than
early self propelled combines up till the late 50's. Headers
up to 16 foot out the right side of the combine. This
combine later was converted to one man operation by the
owner, as were many ot these used in the 50's, where
everything was operated from the tractor armrest like on
modern machines. Difficulty in removing header for moving
and inability to cut a new swath without knocking down grade
made selfpropelled combines popular for openning fields in
those days.
