IH TD 40 crawler
IH TD 40 used to pull 51 combine before being replaced by
TD 14 in it's last years. In the mid 50s a sunshade was
added to deflect the hot sun during harvest.
Re: IH TD 40 crawler
Big Beast, how much HP is this? and from wich year? 40's?
Re: IH TD 40 crawler
Johan, It is about a 1937 model and was over 48 horsepower
on Nebraska test. Later a better fuel pump was put on and it
had enough power to pull one more 16 inch plow bottom.
(8-16inch plows in heavy soil containing some clay.) 4 3/4
inch bore and 61/2 inch stroke at 1100 rpm's. Replace by
bigger frame and heavier TD 14 in late 1939.
Re: IH TD 40 crawler
Thanks for the info Redpainter, It's interresting. A copple
of weeks ago i saw an old IH TD20 bulldozer when i was with
my dad looking by an Allis-Chalmers HD21 bulldozer. The IH
TD20 was standing behind the HD21 and was very bad,
especialy the hydraulics where very bad.
