Ice storm damage on corn
Yesterday evening happened a ice storm at west of Santa
Catarina, Brazil. Most of the corn crop are in V3 stage and
the damage are not so worry.

I never thought of hail storms in Brazil.

Yes, the corn plants will be survive. The growing point
region are at soil level (see pic above) and was not
damaged. The picture above was taken by me last week at same
plants damaged with hail storm. I cutted the leaves to show
the growing point region. These corn plants have 9 leaves,
yet.

First of all, your pictures posted on FarmPhoto are very
nice and I'm your fan.
About hail storm, we have one-two storms at early spring
every years.

Hail storm on corn at Sertão county, southern of Brazil,
taken by a girl farmer, Juliane, last year. In this case the
lost was full.

The picture above was taken today, two weeks after hail
storm (sept 26, 2004).
The corn plants was survived...
