Pulling two tandem plows
Plowing in fall of 03. Dry conditions. HD 6 Allis Chalmers
and two tandem no 16 plows.
Re: Pulling two tandem plows
Are the plow's Allis-Chalmers to or is it an other plow?
Re: Pulling two tandem plows
Johan, the plows are IH no 16 heavy duty plows. My dad did
try out AC plows when the dealer demoed a HD 6 in the 60's.
The axles pointed backwards instead of forwards on other
plows. He liked them. These no 16 heavy duty plows were hard
to beat. The problem around here with older plows in the
fall was the plows wouldn't stay in the ground in dry soils
especially on sidehills throwing dirt up hill. These had
little problem coming out of the dry ground. One of my
favorite old plows was the Oliver. They pulled nice. Most
plows older plows around here were Deere, IH and to a lesser
degree Case(good plow too) and Oliver. By the 70's IH plows
were the most popular with their trip beams and hinge plow.
