Late in the day
A 9400T seeding winter wheat on SRS Ranches just east of
The Dalles, Oregon. Heading back to the top of the ridge
to reload after finishing off one patch. This shot shows
the wider stance of the 2320 aircart and one of the twin
rams for the special hillside hitch on the drill. This
hitch allows the operator to correct for slewing of the
drill on the hillsides. The 9400 has the full weight group
on; weights on the nose and on thr track frame. With a full
load of fuel, this brings the weight up to around 50,000lbs
Re: Late in the day
Why is the soil so dark in color at the upper left of the
photo? Is this typical soil quality in your region?
Re: Late in the day
Beautiful picture, John ;-)

So.... steep hillsides aren't only in Switzerland and

Re: Late in the day
Can anyone of these guys overhere tell me what's ment by
this sentence:
This hitch allows the operator to correct for slewing of the
drill on the hillsides. In simple words please because my
english isn't very well.
Great pictures by the way
thank you
Re: Late in the day
I think the driver can turn the hitch to the left or right.
This way the the drill runs under an angle with the tractor.
The tractor can now drive under an angle in order to keep
the right direction without seeding problems.
Re: Late in the day
How big of a field is this? Are these pics all from the
same field? 2.) Are there any Knudson tractors around you
there in the hills? Thanks!!

Re: Late in the day
"Late in the Day", "9400T" & "Hard Pull" were shot in 3
different fields. The field in these last pics was not
going to be burned, but the stubble conditions forced us
into it. In the background of this shot you can see a patch
that was not burnt; it was giving us too many problems so
we had to break out the matches. The good news is that with
the no till seeding, there will be no erosion even though
we had to burn. We are working on some different plans for
residue management to reduce the need for burning. Like the
no till a lot.....but still have a lot to learn about doing
it. :-D
Re: Late in the day
A little closer shot of the 9400T. The clouds starting to
show up on Mt Hood in the background are a warning to us
to get with it .....wet weather is coming. ;-)
Re: Late in the day
Thought there might be some questions about the hillside
hitch, so I shot this from the air cart looking down on it.
When the drill starts to drift down the hill and the press
wheels no longer track with the openers, the operator can
use this hitch to "pull" the drill back up the hill. This
modification was done by the implement dealer after delivery
from the factory. ;-)
