Filling the high moisture silo
This is a 2-155 2wd white with a grinder blower. It is used
to grind high moisture ground ear corn for beef cattle.
Re: Filling the high moisture silo
What is the capacity of the grinder,Would it not be faster
to grind else where then blow into silo?I am just asking as
I am not familar with this way of filling silo

Re: Filling the high moisture silo
It may be faster to grind the corn in the field and then
blow it into the silo. Though as of now, we are only
running a 5440 john deere self propelled forage harvester,
it is only chopping 3 rows at a time. So for our case this
system works out quite well. The only problems that we
have faced with this blower is that if the corn is a little
too wet, ie 40% or more, or there is a lot of cob in the
silage, the blowers capacity is reduced greatly, also it has
a tendency of plugging. I am not sure of the exact capacity
of the blower, though like i said it is very closely related
to the moisture.
