Alan4355 122881 351 MF4355+plough either
This is an massey ferguson 4355,purchased in 2003 to replace
a 10 year old 390T which had done over 8000 hours and had
never had a spanner on its engine. we went for the 4355 as
its a bit bigger in horse power, 105 to be precise.
She's equipped with power shuttle, we were a bit
apprehensive of buying it with power shuttle as regards to
reliabillity of electrically controlled clutch packs etc.
but we've been really happy with it.
Just hope she sloggs away as well as the 390T did!!!

Its pictured here hitched to our dowdeswell 16inch 4 furrow
reversible plough. which she pull's like fun!!

View behind, ploughing a good straight line??????? :-[
Re: MF4355+plough

i too love MF expecially 390T it´s a popular model in
portugal were i live. if you can provid further experiences
on your old 390T i thank you.

take care, andre
Re: MF4355+plough
Yeah the 390T is a great tractor.
we purchased 2 new ones a 2wd and a 4wd. we still have the
The 4wd had clocked up alot more hrs so we changed it for
the 4355..... to be honest i still perfer the 390T. she had
great pulling power, I used to use the powerharrow and drill
combi behind it and it pulled it like fun!! it had the 18
speed box in it with the speed shift which was really handy
for all jobs.
The 2wd has a loader and is fitted with the 12-12 shuttle
box which is great for the loader work!! it's attached to a
hedge cutter at the moment, i'll get some pic's of it tmrw
and post them up if you like!! :-)
Re: MF4355+plough
Biggest downside to the 390T was the lack of rear end lift
cappacity, The tractor had plenty of pulling power and could
pull 4 furrows on medium loam and have power to spare, but
it didn't have enough lift cappacity. we had an assistor ram
fitted to ours so she could lift our 4 furrow reversable.

The only other problem we had was the auxillary oil pump.
within 1000 hrs the steering went heavy and the spool valve
pressure was none exsistant. luckily it was still under
warrenty, Massey's changed the make of pump used, and that
sorted it out. gear box's never gave trouble and the ours
did 7500 hrs before it was due a clutch change!!
Re: MF4355+plough
good pic eh???

whats missing off the plough???

The thing that you only need when ploughing with any other
make of tractor...... the depth wheel!!
The massey (non electical sensing) hydraulics are so precise
that you can remove the depth wheel and she'l keep it level
while also allowing more traction onto the back wheels!!!

Good Old Harry fergusson!!!!!! :-D
Re: MF4355+plough
thank you for repling Massey Lad.
i m so please that someone still recognise the value of good
machines inspite of their age.
in my opinion many farmers buy tractors with more power than
nedded. i think it´s better to have 2 tractors with less
power than a 200hp that only makes one thing at a time:
if you still have any more photos of your tractors please
post them for us expecialy 390:-D
next time i will try to post some as well i hope...

take care, drive safe andre
