Volvo 810
This is a picture of my 1973 Volvo 810. I have put a TD60B
from a FE series Volvo truck into it. Now I am trying to get
the rear hub off the axle to replace a leaky axle seal. Does
anyone have any ideas how to get it off. I have a 10 ton
press in there now and it won't move.

A Volvo tractor in America? Very unusual. ;-)

Re: Volvo 810
Hello Kris,

I know this is isn't easy. You have to make hub and axle
very hot
with a gas burner and then press it of. At a local dealer in
my neighborhood they had to do the same job with a 810 a
couple of months ago and they did it on this way. I didn't
see they worked on it, but I have seen tractor when it was
finished and due the heat all the paint on the surface of
the hub was gone.

Re: Volvo 810
Not so very unusual Johan. There are several 100's BM of
type T650, T800 and T810 sold in USA and Canada by a firm
called COOP Implements. They have always bought other brands
tractors under there name. Also sold Deutz and I thought
Cockshutt or Oliver under the COOP brand. In the seventies
the also sold big tractor pulled combines. Because the Deutz
tractors they imported were to small to pull the big
combines they made an agreement with Volvo to sell the 800 (
106/115 HP ) and 810 ( 128/147 HP ) and later the 650 ( 78
HP ) to pull the combines.

Re: Volvo 810
Ja nou je het zegt RVM. Het staat ook op de motorkap aan de
zijkant, COOP Implements. Nooit geweten. :-)

It's really an American version, as i can see. You're
tractor is just a pull tractor so with out a hitch.

Re: Volvo 810

What's the tractor on the right site from the last photo.
Looks like a Farmall, when i look to the fenders.

Re: Volvo 810
Ze werden trouwens gewoon gebouwd in Zweden idd zonder hef
maar ook zonder cabine en achterwielen. Die zijn er later in
the USA op gebouwd.

Re: Volvo 810
Thanks for the information. The Volvo tractors really are
quite rare around here. The only other ones that I know of
are in Junkyards in western Canada. I live in Massachusetts
on the east coast. I am also going to be using this tractor
at tractor pulls so I need information About putting
different sized wheel on. And how to get more power from the
engine.

Re: Volvo 810
diesel full open + removing cold start = about 220 HP.
The TD60 B is official inly in tractors mounted in model
2650 and 2654 not sold in USA/Canada. There they are rated
140 HP, 125 HP PTO. I think the engine you have, which comes
from truck is rated at least 170 HP engine, maybe you get
more than 220.
Original in T810 is TD50A for the '69-'75 models and TD60A
for the '75-'79 models

Re: Volvo 810
About the tyre size there are two ways to put bigger rims on
it. I don't know what you have now, 34 inch? Original the
biggest volvo rims that fit on your 810 are 38 inch rims. To
fit 42 inch on your tractor you can weld rims that fit on
the original hub or you can put the hub of an Valmet
2005/2105 ( look on photo ) on it. These Valmets are the
successors of the BM 800 and 810. They have the same rear
axle but they have an other hub so you can put lighter and
bigger rims on it without the heavy weight in the center of
the rim. I don't think you can find these parts ( valmet hub
) in USA/Canada. Maybe you can get in contact with
www.tktraktordelar.se This is a big tractorwrecker in Sweden
who certainly has these parts.

Re: Volvo 810
The cold start that you are talking about. Is that the one
in the intake? Is there anything that I can do to the
governor on the pump to get it to work more?? The tractor
pulling that we do here is on cement and is not as fast as
dirt pulling so the more power at lower RPMs is better.

Re: Volvo 810
Here is my tractor from the front. I am still trying to get
the rear hub off. I don't think 10 tons will do it. I am
going to borrow a better press hopefully this week.

Re: Volvo 810
Hello Kris.

I was at the local dealer who did this job before. He said
he used a special tool ( don't know what ) and he only
heated one tractor because that was a very hard one.

Re: Volvo 810
Well I finally got the hub off. A friend with a 50 ton press
took it off. Now I need to get those hubs. I called TK
traktordelar and they don't have any used and the new are
expensive. Are there any other Tractor salvage yards I could
try?

Re: Volvo 810
Good news you finally made it. I do have some other adresses
of tractorwreckers you could try.

www.leenders-parts.nl
www.gidos.se
www.laholmstraktordem.se
www.meindertsma.com
www.danbrugt.com

The first one ( leenders-parts ) is a volvo and valmet
dealer in Holland. he has a lot of parts used and new of
volvo. you can also ask him about the hubs of volvo bm 840
and 841 wheelloaders. I thought those loaders use the same
backaxle as your 810. maybe the hubs of these loaders fit to
your tractor too. You should ask him, he knows a lot more
about these tractors. The other links are from wreckers that
have parts of all the brands in stock
