Corn / soybean planter
This is a 12 rows corn planter with 12 JD units mounted on a
Kearney frame. 24 Flexi-Coil FSO no till units are mounted
at the front of the planter. They plant double rows on 30
in spacing. The units are spaced 12 inches between the
double rows and 18 inches between each pairs. In corn the
same units are used to apply 2 different types of
fertilizers. A 1740 Flexi-Coil air cart with a seed
treatment system is used for fertlizer in corn and for seed
in soybeans. This rig is pulled by a Cat MT 745. Taken in
South West Quebec.

This is the Flexi Coil FSOs set up for soybean and
fertilizer application in corn. When these units are used
for soybean, the corn planting units are lifted off the
ground.

Hey Nick,

Wonderful pics! That is one of the best set up planters i
have seen, looks like a wonderful planter. Have you ever
had trouble with the FSO's seizing up on the top parallel
linkage bar? Direct seeding or conventional? Again great
lookin set up!

Also fantastic pics of the 470R! They are a wonderful
machine. Hoping in the next 1-3 years to purchase a 580.

Hope your having a great New Year.

Re: Corn / soybean planter
This is not my planter, so I don't don't know if this farmer
had particular trouble wiht the FSOs. He operates with this
rig since 3 years now and it works very well. This man
farms 1200 acres of land, mostly corn and soybean, as well
as some edible beans. All his acres are no-tilled. He
could probably plant twice that area with the same
equipment. His only equipments are the Cat tractor, a small
Fendt tractor w/ a loader, a Hardi sprayer, this planter, a
Killbros grain cart on tracks and a Case IH 2388 combine.
