Re: 4355 beet harvest
Close up of knife which tops the beet, the gap between the
blade and the wheel is adjusted to top more or less of the
crown!

Re: 4355 beet harvest
The wheel lifts and lowers as it goes over bigger or smaller
beet, behind it there is a rubber flail that sweeps the tops
away!!

Re: 4355 beet harvest
Takes about 7 minutes to get a tank full, and about 3
minutes to unload it. I really need a second tractor driver
to side load on the move!!! :-)

Re: 4355 beet harvest
A load home, with this harvester you can do about 60 ton a
day, but me on my own with one tractor, harvesting, hauling
and stacking it, i can manage 30 ton a day!!

Re: 4355 beet harvest
I grow just 5 hectares, to fill my 270 ton quota. i usually
have some left which i sell for stock feed.

I have a spare tractor which i usually pull the trailer
with, but it is 2 wheel drive, today was very wet and i dont
have help for if i get stuck, so decided not to risk it. :-P

Re: 4355 beet harvest
why dont you left the 2 weel drive and the hauler on the
road en go with the harvester standing next to it
than you also get no trouble

Re: 4355 beet harvest
:-)Thanks for idea's,:-)
Unloading on road would not work, As when unloading, more
soil is removed from the beet, (about a wheel barrow full
for every trailer load!) Soil on the road would not go down
very well with the townies that have moved to our country
village!!!!
Plus i wouldn't like to leave a tractor on the roadside, as
the local chav's have been known to smash windows and steal
radio's from tractors. :-(

linking/ unlinking of the harvester doesn't take long: just
one dropper pin and the pto shaft!! No electric boxs or
hydraulic pipes on this old machine!! :-D

Drive safe Alan
