And then comes Gilbert
I know what you are all thinking, these are not livestock,
but while these injured orphans are living with us on our
small holding, they are cared for and treated as all the
others are ! Just as Lord Nelson was getting a little fed up
of being on his own, ring goes the phone and along comes
Gilbert, with an injured leg: Named after Great Uncle
Gilbert who was a fisherman and had a limp ! This little
chap really is a pirate, and acts the part. There is no
break in the leg, don't know how long he was on the ground
without proper or regular food...but once he is stronger and
feeling more confident, I think he will take to the air and
live quite the normal life with or without the limp. I have
known many gulls with only one leg....losing one to fishing
lines .... and they can manage quite well. So here is hoping
this little chap will remain the pirate he was when he was
brought to us, and get the urge to fly off soon ! One thing
for sure....costs one ______ of a lot in tins of fish when I
am unable to get fresh ! But locals have been most helpful
and I have recieved with thanks, a good supply over the
months of fresh fish for these chaps !
