Setting Up
A JD 8760 with a Summers sprayer setting up to spray on
Kortge Wheat & Cattle near The Dalles, Oregon. In the
background are cherry orchards and the Columbia River
Gorge just west of The Dalles. ;-)
Re: Setting Up
Hey john, I really love the pictures from the area where you
live and the real big machines.
Don't you have an areal shot from above, from the whole area
wich the SRS ranches own? I can't imagine myself how big
that must be :-)

take care
Re: Setting Up
Hi john

Nice pic. ;-)
Don't you crush a lot of the wheat with such a big tractor
on duals? Because I can't see any tramlines... or is this
the first time you spray?

Take care,
Re: Setting Up
Yo Bart: SRS Ranches is scattered over the north end of
Wasco County, so there is no single shot of the whole ranch.
We get to spend a lot of time on the road moving
from one place to another. Here we are moving in to start
harvest last summer. ;-)
Re: Setting Up
Yo Niek: The pic in post 155049 is of my son in laws 8760,
there is little damage to the wheat at this stage. This
wheelie will do less damage to the wheat than the
Challengers that we use at SRS; the Challengers are fine
on the straight runs, but they tear out a bunch of wheat
on the turns. Here is a shot of one of them from last year.
Re: Setting Up
When we don't want any tracks in the wheat, we call in the
planes ;-) All of our wheat this year was sprayed by air.
Here is a shot I took last week of our wheat being sprayed.
Re: Setting Up
One of the pilots saying hello. ;-)
Re: Setting Up
That's undoubtedly the best solution i guess :-).
Unfortunately for planes you need bigger pieces of land than
we have in the Netherlands :-P.
Did you already have some rain? I read that the wheat was
thirsty :-\

take care,
Re: Setting Up
what does SRS means

wat betekend SRS
Re: Setting Up
Yo Niek: Oops!! I forgot! :-[ We did do some ground spray
work at SRS already this spring, but it wasn't broadleaf
control. We put on a micro-nutrient through a sprayer on
a test plot. And we will have to do some broadleaf control
where the airplanes can't go ( next to some orchards). But
the bulk of our broadleaf program has already been done by
air. My son in law is doing all of his by ground; here is
another shot of his rig as we were getting ready to move it
to another locatin last Sunday. It's al folded back and
ready to transport. The working width when folded out is
70 feet.
Re: Setting Up
Mark: SRS is the name of the ranch where I work. :-
Where are you located?
