Harris pull type hillside
The 30/38 was a big combine for it's day. Similar in design
to Holt/Caterpillar-later John Deere, this Hillside combine
was also of California design, built for the biggest fields.
(some were probably level land type) This machine had a 16
or 20 foot header out the right side lifted by a hand run
header wheel counterbalanced by weight of an attatched A
fame hanging behind the header. Many were sold in Washington
Idaho Oregon and also in Montana as well as California.
Earlier versions of Harris pull type combines were made out
of wood from the late 19th century like the HOLT
(Caterpillar).
