Complaint about Coral
Is it possible to put the "image mirror" standard on instead of CoralCDN

Because you cannot see the most pictures with CoralCDN and
you have too change first when you visit the site.

Or am I the only one with that problem?

kind regards Arjan,
Re: Complaint about Coral
You are not the only one with that problem. Maybe could stu
change the standard image mirror to (usa)
Re: Complaint about Coral
No Adhu you're not the only one i always set the mirror to
farmphoto also.but as far as i can see there are only 2
mirrors left..... why is that stu?

Re: Complaint about Coral
Same problem here. I alway's set the imagemirror to becouse Coral is so slow. A cookie would be
nice indeed.
Re: Complaint about Coral
Great site! I visit this site every day and have posted
several pics myself. I too have the same problem with
having to use the image mirror. It only takes
two mouse clicks to correct the problem though.

However, I am also able to use this site for free! Great
job, great site! You don't need to change a thing as far as
I am concerned. If I can't read someone's post, due to a
language barrier, I just don't bother opening it. I look at
the thumbnail and move on.
Re: Complaint about Coral
To try and address what I know are some of the very valid
comments made already in this thread:

The reason I put in the coral proxy link was due to
excessive bandwidth usage by the site. We were eating up
almost a whole T1 connection (and increasing every day). As I
am currently relying on the goodwill of my employer to
provide bandwidth I have to be pretty careful about how I
use it!

In theory the Coral proxy should work very well for us. It
has cut down bandwidth at my ISP by about 50% (but I don't
really know if this is because people get frustrated with
the site and leave).

I have it first (default) on the list because if I had it
second noone would ever use it! :-\

My theory is that regular users quickly realize that they
need to change to the second option while casual visitors
don't waste bandwidth that could be used by the site's more
loyal users. I know this is kind of lame and not a good
solution but I feel kind of caught between a rock and a hard
place on this one. Yes, I probably should set a cookie on
your browsers that keeps the last mirror choice.

Oh, and as to why there are only 2 choices now in the mirror
pulldown: after I changed ISPs late last year both the other
two options were then on the same network as my server,
hence there was no real benefit to choosing them rather than
my main machine...
Re: Complaint about Coral
maybe, you could fix it this way: try to make it possible
for users with an account to choose in their settings the
image mirror they want , this way, we just have to do it
once, and every time we visit this site again and log in we
have immediately the mirror.
It's just a suggestion, hope you understand what i mean, my
English isn't that good

Re: Complaint about Coral
What happened to Dogs Gone South and the other one?
I was always on Dogs Gone South worked best for me always
Farmphoto now though.
Re: Complaint about Coral
now (usa) doesn't seem to work eihter... am I
the only one with that problem? or is this just temporary
Re: Complaint about Coral
nope, here it's the same, both of the image mirrors don't
want to work over here, i see only red crosses
Re: Complaint about Coral
I have the same problem - no photos showing. Was the same
yesterday (13. of June 2005). I've tried both image mirrors
but it still doesnt help. Usually use (usa)
Re: Complaint about Coral
We all have the same problem Gording.
Re: Complaint about Coral
yes also me... no photos to see:-(:-(:-(
Re: Complaint about Coral
Hi @ all

bin neu hier und sehe auch keine Bilder :-( kann das nicht
mal repariert werden ;-)
Re: Complaint about Coral
I can't see any pictures either. Could you please try to fix
this? It's really irritating and kinda tragic.
Re: Complaint about Coral
Sorry folks, but this is one of those "you get what you pay
for" type deals. While I run this site in my spare time and
with my spare cash (neither of which are in plentiful
supply) it's always going to be subject to unpredictable
outages. It's the nature of the beast. Not much can be done
about that...
