Re: mf 8450

When MF was going through bankruptcy in the late 1980's, (
Conrad Black :-( ) they started selling off equipment
lines. ( Articulated tractor line was sold to
McConnel-Marc, and I believe the combine line was sold to
CLAAS, along with the MF baler line. ) Some of these assets
MF has bought back:-D , and some not. They purchased other
lines of equipent to replace these with.

Take care,
Re: mf 8450
Hey William,

So the concept of the Dominator was actual MF?

Re: mf 8450
Massey Ferguson divided it's company into 7 divisions at the
time to save the company. When the Canadian, Massey Combines
went bankrupt, they sold the old 800 and other MF combines
designs back to the tractor division which sold parts for
former models.
The rotaries went to Vicon and then to Linamar (Portage
Manufacturing) who built them for MF. Then MF made a deal
with Claas to sell two models of their combines in N.
America under MF colors. Class combines sold by Ford in the
USA and Cereal Implements (Coop Implements) in Canada came
under the MFname in N. America and were distributed by MF.
These combines seemed to be more successful in Canada where
straw walker machines were still desireable. US farmers
wanted rotaries.
Re: mf 8450
I've got an 8460 that was built in Germany. It's a '94 and
depending on the feederhouse you can tell whether or not it
was built out of country.
