Hesston 80-66 HI Clearance
Hesston 80-66 High Clearance near Salinas, California, USA.
Harvesting brocolli. The harvesting conveyor mounts to the 3
point hitch of the tractor. Operating weight of the tractor
is over 12,000 lbs. Extreme for a 70 hp tractor!
Re: Hesston 80-66 HI Clearance
Hi Richard,

One small remark: in my opinion, the 80-66 has 80 hp.
I compared it with the Fiat 80-66, which is more or less
exactly the same.
Re: Hesston 80-66 HI Clearance
The Hesston 80-66 is the same as the Fiat 80-66. However,
the tractor is rated by pto horsepower in the US. Yes, it is
80 horsepower at the flywheel but only rated at 70
horsepower at the pto.(Nebraska Test)
Re: Hesston 80-66 HI Clearance
Hi Richard,

Ok! Do you know if this tractor has been imported? Or is it
Re: Hesston 80-66 HI Clearance
The Hesston tractors were imported by Hesston Corporation
during the 1980's and early 1990's.They were built in the
same plant as the Fiat's (Modena, Italy),only the name was
changed. At first the tractors were repackaged in the
Hesston Corporation plant in Hesston, Kansas, USA. Then
later the repackaging took place at the ports. The Hesston
tractors were equipped for the North American market,so this
made them slightly different than the Fiat tractors.Things
like different types of drawbars. Tire options were spec'd
in the US. Later, things like the ballast weights, wheel
rims and ROPS were made in the US to reduce the cost of
shipping those items from overseas. As you can see by the
attached picture there was alot of tractor in a small space.
All tractos were shipped in containers.
Re: Hesston 80-66 HI Clearance
Fiat owned Hesston back then.
