Re: Combining in Kansas

more hours of combing left to go before quiting time
Re: Combining in Kansas
here is a close up picture of me combiing wheat in weastern
Re: Combining in Kansas
I notice the first time in Kansas that it got dark fast
after the sun went down. Not alot of twilight like up north
or sun late into the evening like in N. Alberta. How late do
you cut at night? We can only cut till 8:00 if we're lucky.
Too cold and too damp in August at that time. Elevators
close at that time anyway.
Re: Combining in Kansas
when we were in weastern kansas the sun would not go down
until 930 because we were right on the edge of the mountain
time zone. we were able to cut until about 11 or 12 every
night when we were in montana and north dakota, but the
elevators did close at 8 after that we would have to put it
into the farmers bins
Re: Combining in Kansas
here is a picture from north central montana south of Big
Sandy, the twilight is much longer up there but it cooled
down every night so we could not cut as long, in kansas you
could basically cut all night long because of the dry
weather, we took some grain to the elevators at 7% moisture,
we would ussually cut until about 1230 to 1 then start again
at about 8
