BIG V 209548 82 Bean harvest either
Bean harvest
Farmer harvesting his beans with an 8000 series deere and
pull type combine and also a self propeled harvester. Not
sure of the make on these machines but they are nice. Im
curious why they harvest there beans this way or why anyone
would.

Re: Bean harvest
This harvest group was sitting in the field close to the
woodstock show right? The reason they use a "bean puller"
versus a regular combine is to avoid cracks. Edible beans
are very susceptible to cracking, so they use a special
harverster for that.
Sometimes people harvest them with a regular combine, but
they end up not making a lot of profit, because all kinds of
deductions. Using a air-reel gives some improvement.

Re: Bean harvest
Hi, ya they were right down the road from the farm show.

because I saw at there farm they had a nice 60 series Deere.
Nice operation thats for sure.

Re: Bean harvest
Ya those guys run a nice operation. For the size of it, it
runs very smooth. These are kidneys beans and they need a
machine with not augers. These are "Amadas" machines ment
only for edible beans. Some are starting to use a regular
rotary combine and direct cutting kidneys but that will take
forever to catch on. Heres some pictures of that same
operation and some more from the area.

Re: Bean harvest
This is the truck that hauls them and what they use to load
it. Both big farms on Hwy#2 grow ALOT of edible beans.

Re: Bean harvest
This is another farm, don't grow asmany edibles but they
help out the bigger farms in the area. They run a New
"Pickett".

Re: Bean harvest
The next few pictures are of "Cold Springs Farms". They
downsized their acres but still grow alot. The Maple Leaf
buy out wasn't for the best. They use to run 2 TR98s but
traded in one for a 9690 MF. They were combining some dirty
White Beans. They gave the Massey with more cleaning area
the worst part of the field.

Re: Bean harvest
By the looks of the piles on the ground, it looks like the
weeds choked her at times. I'll get lots of pictures when we
start combining Black beans with the TR88.

Re: Bean harvest
I don't have anymore pictures of them combining beans but
here's one of another farm in the area. "FairCrest Farms".
There right across from the air port on Hwy#2 just outside
of Woodstock. This is their 9760 with a 935 head. They had a
9650 last year but it burnt.
