Crawler Loader
Hi everyone. I didn't really start this thread to post my
pictures but to get info/pictures from you. I am looking
for the biggest Crawler loader (tracked loader) that has
ever been made. We have a Cat 931 Crawler Loader with the
widest pads (tracks) available and we LOVE it aside from the
fact that its small(average size in comparison to others).
Even though its under 100hp(and physically smaller than our
80hp tractor) it can outlift our over-100hp tractors. If
The CAT is like an electric motor, if you hold it so it
can't turn it'll sit and humm while it maintains a constant
force while a tractor will just S.T.A.L.L. If I go into a
pile that is too much for the CAT(which hardly ever happens)
the Cat will just stop any movement where as the tractor
will just putter out. I can go across a slough and sink in
an inch with the tracks and I can go over the same spot with
any tractor and it will get stuck. With the wide tracks we
have we could do a 360 on a golf coarse and you wouldn't
even know it yet I get no slippage for pushing/pulling with

I don't know why anyone would use a wheel loader if they
could use a tracked loader. (The older ones were rough but
I'm sure the new ones have cab suspension at least. Plus
they would be so much more useful than wheeled loaders(W.L).
How many W. Loaders do you know of that can be equipped
with a ripper, backhoe, PTO, 3pt hitch, and an actual
drawbar(not just a tow hook). There are many more
attachments but I can't even begin to list them all. Who
needs articulation when can turn 360 degrees on the spot?
With the new comfort cabs they could be just as good as a
tractor. I vote for the manufactures to make Crawler
loaders that could possibly dominate over wheeled loaders!
They already have all this, they just need to make them

Post your two-sense please.

Re: Crawler Loader
Oops. I got so distracted I forgot to ask, does anyone know
what machine this is? :-[ Also, post any
information(pictures, model numbers, anything) you have on
big crawler loaders(just thought i'd say it again)

Allis Chalmers?
Re: Crawler Loader
Josh: Not a FEL, but a blade on a 45.....traded to our
local Cat House. ;-) Been run hard and put away wet for
sure. Bet the salesman that took this in on trade is still
talking to himself:-D
Re: Crawler Loader
Josh: A little closer view of the blade, belts & UC. I have
NEVER seen belts abused this much. :-\
Re: Crawler Loader
Leon are now making loaders for the challengers, but only
the 35/45/55.
Re: Crawler Loader
Thanks Roger, its easier to find something now that I know
what I'm searching for. :-) John, yes it sure appears that
they were hard on that challenger, mind you, its a CAT so it
can take it! :-P :-D ;-)
