Re: The UH COUGAR
Waarom overlappen die twee achterste maaiers eigenlijk? Of
schuiven die uit ofzo? Wel een grappig modelletje, maar ik
vind de machine zelf niet zo heel mooi, ik vind een krone
big m veel mooier....

Re: The UH COUGAR
Hi Martien !

I do not speek dutch , but I assume you are talking about
the fact that the side mowers overlap the front mowers. I
also think this is an unfortunate oversight for such a
beautifull model . But I will buy myself one anyway.
Where in Canada are you?
I am from southwestern Quebec.

Re: The UH COUGAR
Hi there markus

I live in south ontario, close to sarni. About ten minutes
away from the border to michigan. You are right, i was
asking about the mowers overlapping. I thought maybe they
slide out once the machine is in the field. Where do you buy
your models? Because i have never seen any UH models sold
here in Canada.

Re: The UH COUGAR
Hi Martien,

In real life the mowers do slide out. But I am not sure that
is the case on the UH model.
I purchase my models in Germany usually from Bearny's or
Juergensen Landtechnick ( Farmtoys.de). But I have also
ordered from Heike's and Olaf Blumenstein.Where do you buy
yours ? do you also buy Britains and Siku ?

Do you have a farm in Ontario ? Cash crop or Dairy ?
I have a small Dairy Farm with 100 acres and 80 rented. Milk
about 25 cows and raise 40 heifers. They are purebred Brown
Swiss. Altough at present there is not much income from the
breeding stock because of the BSE ban.

Re: The UH COUGAR
Hello markus,

thanks for your response. I useually get my models from
farmingtoys, but lately their prices havent been to good, so
I am going to order from bearny he has really good prices.
Shipping prices are no fun though, so since i used to live
in holland sometimes my parents go to holland, i will have
the models delivered to family in holland where my parents
will pick it up.

About our farm. In 2002 we moved to Canada from Holland, we
didnt have a farm in Holland, but my dad, (and me too)
always wanted to farm so we came to canada and bought a
chicken farm on 100 acres. We work all the land ourselves
with all of our own equipment. The chickens is our main
income though, as cash crop as you might know isnt the best
branch in Ontario. We also grow hay for the horse market and
that seems to be a good business. We initially wanted to go
into dairy, but in the end broiler chickens made more sense.
I sure hope for all the Beef farmers that the prices and the
business altogether will be better soon. It might not be as
glorious as it used to be, but it should still be able to
make you a living.

Well thats our story

Re: The UH COUGAR
Hey Martien,

So, if I may ask, did you find the transition hard? And did
you study enlish in school in Holland? Just curious, I want
to take a trip hopefully late 06 or early 07. ( My Dad and
his family came to Canada from Holland in 1957. I have never
been to Holland. ) I am going to take dutch classes at the
U of T first. I realise it wont be fluent, well not the way
you are, but Oh Well it will be fun!!

Thanks and take care,

Will

Re: The UH COUGAR
Hello,

I didnt find learning english too hard. I took private
lessons in holland just to get the grammar right, but 90 %
or the vocabulary I learned here. My dad already knew how to
speak english fluently so he didnt have a hard time. My mom
knew english fairly well, and now she is doing very good
also. I didnt find the tradition too hard, it took a lot of
adjusting and getting used to though, but we really enjoy
the way people treat each other in Candada. In Holland
nowadays there is so much violence and hate, so thats
something you want to be carefull for. A lot of people are
getting shot or stabbed in big cities like Amsterdam, but
Holland is nonetheless a really nice country. Im sure you
will be able to pick up some dutch here, its not a really
hard language, and you will find that a lot of the words
used in holland are based on English words.

Re: The UH COUGAR
Hey Martien,

Thanks alot for the advice. I am not much of a city
dweller. I prefer country scenery, no matter where it is. I
will do a small bit of touring the city, but the rest of the
time I plan on spending in the country. The University of
Toronto offers Dutch classes. ( 3 modules, 8 classes each.
) So I am going to take all of them before I go over. The
hopefully I'll learn alot while I am over there!!

Thanks alot, and take care,

Will
