Re: SPUDNIK 6400
What's the use of this HUGE track width on that John Deere
(8000 Series I suppose... not a 6400)? It's a tremendous
load on the axles. Especially the front one! I see it's not
a ILS axle... John Deere doesn't even recommend putting
twins in the front without the ILS. Because the front is so
heavy - the axle would break if you are not careful.

Re: SPUDNIK 6400
Why would you need such a big axle spread anyway?

Re: SPUDNIK 6400
YOu have to match the rows so you dont crush the potatoes.
without the extensions they would be tracking all over the
rows.

Re: SPUDNIK 6400
Because a lot of people out here use windrowers to swath
another 4 or 8 rows into the four rows that the harvester
pics up, you need 4 row spacing on the tractor (144 inch,
3,60m) in order not to drive over your windrow. Some people
use Caterpillar trac-machines too om 144" spacing. I know it
looks funny, but out here a lot of people do it, and no
tractor axle has failed yet. About duals on ILS frontaxles,
I don't know who told you about not beiing "recommended",
but that's of course bullshit, because you look in the
brochure of the JD 8030 series, and you see pictures of
tractors with front duals, row crop spacing and normal
spacing.

i guess it is like anything else. With a good maintenance
program you will get as long life out of it.
