Re: Drought Crop
He thats a nice combine. i found it one of the most
beautiful combines. Has you had an Allis-Chalmers combine
before this? ;-)
Re: Drought Crop
G'day Stuart
Its quit a while since you posted some pics. Nice to hear
from you. Your loupins look very thin. What does such a crop
yield? Its hard year Down Under, i guess.
Anyway, i wish you good luck :-) for the rest of your
harvest season.

See ya

Re: Drought Crop
Hey guys,

The weather has been bad here in the states, in North
Carolina. Anyway, veeeeery nice combine.

Re: Drought Crop
Hard year here in western Canada as well. We had less than
an inch off rain from the middle of april till the end of
July. Hundreds of thousands of acres were written off by
crop insurance before harvest began. Our barley became
silage, about a tonne an acre. The peas ran about 7
bushel/acre. Wheat about 10. Some canola we put up for
feed, the stuff we harvested ran 9. Tens of thousands of
cattle had to be sold off because of no feed during the
summer. The southern part of the prairies had too much rain
this summer and fall, crops were very late, and now they are
snowed under in the field. If it ever does dry off this
fall the quality is crap. And I haven't even talked about
the Grasshopper problems and the frosts in July that froze
most of Saskatchewan. Sask. usually has 50% of their spring
wheat grade #1. This year, less than 10%! Year from hell!!
Re: Drought Crop
To johan, Stefan, Lance & rosco.
Thanks for your replies and comments, this is the forth
harvest we are entering with the Gleaner. She's a great
machine, have had an excellent run with her. Previous combine
was a Deutz Fahr 1322 which we owned for 10 years.
The R62 has the Deutz V8 engine, I like the air cooled
It is a very tough year over most of Australia, It is going
to be hard to source seed for some crops next year, thats
why we must harvest some very low yielding crops. The Faba
Beans shown in the photos yielded about half a bushel to the
Lentils yielded 1.4 bushels/acre.
About half our wheat and barley will be harvested, some
looks as if it could go to 12 bus/acre, but quality will be
an issue.
Most canola died, patches to be harvested.
We get these seasons about once every 10 years, got to get
though them.:-(

Looking forward to next season:-)

Regards Stuart.
Re: Drought Crop
Hey Stuart,

As i can understand u are from Australia. Is Deutz-Fahr
still selling combines in Australia?
What do you think about the Fahr treshing system?
Always read that the Gleaner are a simple but efficient
combine, but do you think is simple as the Fahr is?
Last, I think your grain header is a little big for that
M1322 :_D
