tractors in hole

Re: tractors in hole
Hi Claas68
I got this idea of a sunken ship. But I can’t clearly see if
it is really tractors or models. But if it is really
tractors I cant explain it otherwise that a sunken ship.
Where did you find that picture?

Take care… Shrek
Re: tractors in hole
These are models of course, none of the wheels are damaged,
if this were real tractors at least some of the wheels
should be collapsed.

Re: tractors in hole
Of course! These are a models, I was so stupid. Thanks guys.
Take care Claas68
Re: tractors in hole
Hi Guys.
Jos you got a point with the wheels but take a look on the
tractors. They are some pretty detailed models. If it is
models it is quite a shame actually.
Claas68 where did you find this picture?
Maybe there could be some more information on that place…

Keep on posting. Shrek.
Re: tractors in hole
Well... looking on the top-left of the picture we can see
something that looks like a scale.
and as it was said previously, these tractors are very
detailed, maybe too much to be toys?
I think this picture is taken from a cargo boat leading
these tractors to a scrapyard. What do you think?
Re: tractors in hole
Yes this is a picture from the ship that sunk in the Channel
between France and England. I cannot remember the name but
the boat was full of German John Deere tractors and Volvo
cars, heading for America.

The boat sunk last year due to a collison with an oil
tanker. I really cant remember the name of the ship :-(
Re: tractors in hole
wasn't the name of the ship the Tricolore ?
Re: tractors in hole
I checked. 'Tricolor' carrying loads of Volvos, Saabs and
BMW's. There is nothing about tractors
aon7owcr.htm ). I still belive this pic is really good
fake. And tractors/models aren't wet, this is normal for
plastic to looks like wet(it's shine)
(Oo..hh. My english is terrible :-\ )
Re: tractors in hole
Re: tractors in hole
Mathijs- :-P .
I can't speak german.
But I think you say there was JD's and MF's under the deck
in 1 'groot' of 'Tricolor' yes?

PS: I hope you speak english :-D .
Re: tractors in hole
The only language can is dutch and al little englisch. But
wat i said is that i dont agree with rense. I belive this is
another ship. On the picture is a dat (25-4-93 i believe)
and the sip where renze stalking about has shunk in 2002.
The other thing is said is that there were also ords and
mf's on the sip and renze is only talking about jd's, and in
the newspaper ik have only see pictures f jd's. i hope jou
can read it because my englishe is verry bat.:-[
Re: tractors in hole
Thanks Mathijs. Your english is good enough. Now I
understand. Sorry for that 'german' it just I can't see a
difference between these two languages (maybe I can hear but
not see).
Re: tractors in hole
How it's possible that a guy like you dont speak or write
better english than i can. You have had a higher education
then i have.
Re: tractors in hole
I'm not sure what to think. Some of those tractors really
do look damaged as they should. Mind you there are some
older looking tractors(who can really tell?) and I don't
think those would be shipped over a long with a whole bunch
of brand new JDs. But on the other hand, it looks to be a
ladder on the side of the container. It is about the size
it should be and looks the same as on other ships(if this
really is a ship). A higher resolution image would be able
to solve this but I think that is wishful thinking.
Re: tractors in hole
Johan Straver!! Are you asking me or Mathijs Groeneveld?
Re: tractors in hole
My comment was to litle Mathijsje :-P
Re: tractors in hole
To be clear:

Above picture only contains models. Look at the front axles
and wheels; definitely 1:32 scales. Only the broken hood of
that one JD looks different, probably that's a high detailed
scale or something.

Re: tractors in hole

I don't agree wih you, if you look at the detials, you can
see that there is a stair at one of the side of the 'hole'
and the details of the tractors are to exact so it cant be
models, and one of the tractor has lost one of the
teihers (?) and the rim is so precisely that it cant be a

Kallum an doen
Re: tractors in hole
Funny, if these were just toys, why would the front wheels
steer, and not the whole front axle like most toys
(Britains, Siku) do ???

Yes the JD models on teh right look like old SGII cabbed
models... Well if the picture is really from 1992, i suppose
they still built that cab in those days...

Yes the Tricolor sunk in 2002... But more boats sank during
the years... When did the "Herald of free enterprise" sink
in the Channel ? I believe that was in the 80's wasnt it ??
Re: tractors in hole
that are real tractors. at the top of the picture you can
see a ladder(trap, correct me if i'm wrong, dutch guys;-))
and if you look to the bottom of some tractors, you see
details you don't see at models.
and you can see also some damaged tires.
so those are real, but what happened, i don't know:-D
Re: tractors in hole
ik denk dat het modellen zijn als je goed naar de jd links
vanonder kijkt zie je op de onderkant 2 lange "latten"
steken naar de vooras toe. allé dat denk ik
Re: tractors in hole
Funny... I thought it was I who mentioned the ladder, etc...
Re: tractors in hole
These are just all 1:16 ERTL models!
If you look to the rims it's very clear, also one Deere has
a total tire of, if it where real tractor, that wouldn't be
The high detail, is because it are high detailed scale
models of ERTL!

Re: tractors in hole
I think that these are models as the tires are shining, this
wouldnt be so on real rubber. Also, the ford in the middle
has a a tight turning angle and i dont think this would be
possible on a real tractor because of the steering joints
and castor angles.

please give your opinion on my opinions!
