John Deere 8960 REALLY stuck
This is my friends 8960, the picture was taken in central
Illinois on a piece of their farm ground they're developing
for a subdivision. It's pulling an 11.5 yard Torque
scraper. The engine is a cummins 855 dynoed at the rear
drive shaft at 420hp, they turned the tractor and
disconnected the drive shaft to get it on pto dyno. The
front weights are custom, 3/8in steel plate filled with
concrete. The tractor weighs over 51,000 pounds. This
picture was taken between 5 and 6 feet below the original
grade. You can see the ground is cracked and dry around the
tractor, they were getting down into the water table.

Hi Matt. This pic brings me to my knee.
How did your friend get out that 'monster'?
Take care... Claas68
Re: John Deere 8960 REALLY stuck
They un-hooked the scraper and then used their backhoe's
boom to pull the tractor out.
Re: John Deere 8960 REALLY stuck
Is it really necessary that you need all the weight for
traction to pull that scraper?
Otherwise I would prefer water in all eight tyres instead of
concrete filled iron blocks, because you have more free
space untill you're completely stuck.

However, nice pictures.
