hey, what all did you have to do to make the JD 220 head work on the 8900? Does this head have any advantages? Thanks.

header conversion is a little tricky. we bolt a plate on the feeder housing to attach 220 head. you also need to put the pump and resevoir off a white head for reel hydraulic motor drive. we also fabricated pto shafts to attach to feeder housing drive.

advantages it's just a better head, plus parts are easy to find.

A friend of mine has a case combine and recently changed row spacing and needed a different corn head. At an auction a man told him there were conversion kits available so he could run a Deere head on the Case. He bought a 843 at that sale and got the kit a few weeks later. Everything seems to work fine but it has not been in the field yet.
