A predator in action
The Doru luteipes is a good guy, because it is voracious
predator of the bad insects of the corn. Picture taken at
the west of Santa Catarina, Brazil, on January 27, 2006.

Wow, what an amazing picture :-)

Is that a native insect or has it been released as
biological contol ? I believe that in the USA they have
released many species from abroad to control pests in corn
and these species are causing great problems.

Thanks for the great picture,

Owain,
This is a native insect of South America, but it is also
found distributed in all the areas producing of corn of the
world. I believe that was already found in the old corns of
the Aztec empire, Mexico.
