why 38" rows?

38" is the most common row spacing in this area for corn and
cotton both of which I grow. My main reason to stay with
the 38's is for cotton harvest. 6 rows is the largest
picker made whether it is on 30's or 38's. The 38" picker
will cover about 25% more acres in a years time for the same
cost as one on 30's.

I might also add that my soybeans are planted on narrow rows
(19") with a different JD vacuum planter.
