Re: Corn Harvest
how many bushels per acre is it making? we farm about
2000acres in central texas, and it averages 96 bushels per
Re: Corn Harvest
If I´m not wrong, that yield is something about 120
bushel/acre. But that´s not the average yield. In my country
we hardly get half of that yield as an average. And this
year we had a really long dry period...many grain corns were
cutted and gave to animals because those crops had no
In my farm the average after 10 years of no irrigated NO
TILL corn, the average yield is 8.6 TT/há (something like
100 bushel/acre).

Re: Corn Harvest
Thanks Gabriel, well thats still pretty damn good, ours is
non irrigated and pretty much no til. we run the disk over
it once after harvest, and a field cultivator over it once
in the winter and if weeds are up big time then we
cultivates once more, then plant.
Re: Corn Harvest
You should try planting NO TILL corn, then.
We are really happy with that system, specialy in dry years
(last 3 years here in Uruguay...)
You only need a big sprayer and a good planter. But all
beguins with a good straw spread during previous harvest. We
have 2 9610 and 2 9650 STS, with chaff spreaders and straw
choppers. All with 30 feet headers. Then we have a 3150 Case
IH Sprayer, and 2 1860-1900 John Deere air seeders, and a
PLA presition planter (16 rows). With only that we make more
than 1200 hectares of wheat-barley, and 3500 hectares of
corn-sorghum-soybean... Nice.
