Re: 4450
4450, September 1983, the first one in England. This tractor arrived in the UK via Liverpool Docks in June 1983. I bought it with 45 hours on the clock, after a farmer had it on demo for a few days and decided to buy the larger 4650 instead.

Re: 4450
Very nice pic JCB! a contractor in my village still has a 4450 and a 4850 running. 4450 is also from '83/84. Tractor will be sold this year I thought. I thought tractors have 15000 and 18000 hours.

Re: 4450
RVM,
I can well believe that. I think the 4*50 & 4*55 series tractors are the best JD have ever made..... It will be interesting to see if the current 8*30 series tractors are still going strong at 18000 hours ;-)

Re: 4450
Well, the 4450 and 4850 have their problems too. 4850 has always problems with engine and I think both gearboxes are overhauled. The 4850 has been bought in about '86 I think. The tractor that was traded in was a 8640 :-P

Re: 4450
My 4450 had wear problems on the rockshaft bushes, and a fault on a rear wheel centre casting. No other major problems.
My 4755 has had a new head gasket, and breaks a few track rod ends, but thats about all.

Contractor in our neighbourhood has Fendt 312 and 600 series with 20000 plus hours ( real hours! )

Re: 4450
sure Fendt and IHC are those few with real good models from then.
even the German-built JD is not as good as the Waterloo models from the 50 series.

Re: 4450
Fendt's are good tractors, a neighbour has a 716, he also runs JD's. The electronic controls, look like they may take some getting used too.
My old JD is easy to drive, all the controls fall easy to hand.
My new JCB has electronic spools, nothing too complicated.

Re: 4450
jdeere,
I do not remember how many hours it had done when it was traded. It was on the farm for 6 years. About 2000 - 2500
