Cover Crop
Nice experience of planting no till soybean over oats as
cover crop. Soybean´s yield was 15% more than the same crop
planted over a "clean residue" field.

Picture of the same crop, 1 1/2 month later. Even with only
half inch of rain on that period, look how healthy it is.
Re: Cover Crop
Hi gabriel

I very much like the idea behind no-till farming. It's
really nice to get information on it from so fa away. In the
first picture it almost lokks like you leave the ripe oats
in the field while planting the soy beans. In the second
picture however it looks like it has been combined. Do you
harvest after seeding? Or is oats just a crop to protect the
soil? Thanks

Re: Cover Crop
No, we don´t harvest after planting. We try to apply
gliphosate as late as we could. We try to let oats to
flower, so it could stay longer in the field. If you apply
sooner, you´d lost oats as a cover, and rain could destroy
your field. If you have more residues over the field, you
improve rain penetration, and you low down evaporation. The
problem is to find the exact moment to apply...not
early...neither late. That´s the "art" of us.

Re: Cover Crop

Igual no conviene
adelantarse tanto en la siembra.
