Zetormatic 280903 96 WELSH BLACK either
WELSH BLACK
Look at this beauty:-d. A canadian welsh black bull, just
look at the quality!! we sold about 20 cattle to canada
in the 1980s they were exported by william gilder with
massive artics;-) and we sold about 30 to germany in 1970
its a shame that the live export was banned,we lost some
good customers! but its ready to start again!!

Re: WELSH BLACK
Nice.

I do like the old welsh blacks. We find their nice for
selling meat direct because of their size and quality. But
their not much use for selling to the supermarkets
unfortunately, as you cant get the weights they want. So we
tend to go for charolais, limo or angus. Its a shame really
as i much prefer the welsh blacks, nice and cheap to fatten
off grass and a lovely temprament (compared to an angus or
limo anyway ! )

Do you breed welsh black then ? Where abouts are you
from?

Regards

Owain

p.s when i was in Denmark recently i met a man who kept
about 100 belted galloways, i told him he'd be much better
off with welsh black and he said he'd look into it :-P

Re: WELSH BLACK
HELLO,
We have limousin. They are wild but they sell very
good around here. The cattle price isn't very good, but we
still like to have them. We have a few cows/calves but we
are gonna get out of that and just have stockers(feeders)
How many cattle u have ?

Re: WELSH BLACK
yes owain we do! im from "pen llyn" we only have 18
cows!! all peddigree of course! our land is more suited to
sheep, so we have nearly 500 ewes, also welsh! belted
galloway is basically welsh black! they have a simmilar
ancestory a "mountain" cow!! anyway this bull might be a
desendant of the ones we sent out in the 1970s!! we sent
out the biggest welsh black bull ever recorded in the
world!!!!! weighed 784pounds at 200 days and 2990pounds at
4 years!! the canadians sold half him to a neighbour for
50,000 dollars!!!!! and his calfs weighed 1100pounds as
yearlings off grass!

Re: WELSH BLACK
It's good to see other Welsh members on here! I live in Pembrokeshire, south west Wales. For the last four summers I have been a farm hand where we have around 300 welsh blacks. We have two bulls on the farm. Unfortunately I dont have any pictures to post! I never took a camera to work with me!

All the best,

Rhys.
