Cattle feeding systems
Hey guys, Does anybody know what is the best way to keep
cattle outside in the winter? It is expensive to keep them
inside (straw is expensive) so i want to keep them in a
field or something and feed them there. Does anybody have
pictures of a corral system? Also has anybody used
wood-chip as bedding?

You could run them out on corn stocks or you could feed them
on a self feeder and give em a bale of hay every week. That
wat we do.

Hi internash,

The bedding we use for our calves is wood shavings, in
Australia the only cost is the transport.

thats amazing.Here a little bag of wood chips costs $5! You
can probably buy it cheaper by wholesale though. We use
mostly straw and cornstock bales.

We actually get ours from a mill, they have piles of the
stuff & are happy to get rid of it. We generally get it by
the truck load for around $300 AU. (last time i checked

That stuff from saw mill cost £10 a ton for stuff that
has started to rot after being outside (so I dont want
it;-)) wheat Straw costs £22 a bale, barley straw is
