Re: 4020
Just love the 4020, one of my all time favourite tractors.

We should have had one on my farm, back in the late 60's. :-(

Re: 4020
liquid propane can be taken to fire gas(benzin)engines.
i belive its the same gas you take for your barbeque grill.
back in the 60's&70's it was pretty popular in the US,cause it was cheaper and the engine too.

Re: 4020
Oh, that's it!

I drive ona of my cars on LPG, and it's a lot cheaper than regular gasoline (benzin)

I thought that's the same thing, but this is basically a diesel engine, or a petrol engine? I heard that installing LPG on diesel engines is not very cheap...

On the other hand, if this is a gasoline negine (hardly possibble) the comsumption of LPG would be more than you can pour in the tractor, and that's not cheap too...

i belive its a gas engine, that stuff was so cheap, dident matter how much it used.

Re: 4020
Gas engine doesn't have the torque needed to work in the fields, and gas engines don't have the long lasting as diesel engines have. Gas engines run ~ 5-6 000 rpm to be usable in load, and diesel does the same thing at ~2 000rpm...

I think this is not a gas engine, because the noise would be unbearable, ant the tractor would be unusable in the field.

On the other hand, in transport, this is a great thing...

As I said i drive one of my cars on LPG, and its so cheap I dont go annywhere on foot...

Re: 4020
belive it or not, these where gas engines also running @ 2200 rpm with 340 ci.displacement and developed 88 pto HP from the gas and 90 HP from LPG.

Re: 4020
Gas engine @ 2200rpm... Hard to believe they got anny work done...

One more thing: When driving on petrol, you have more HP, and on LPG less. I understood from what you wrote, that theese tractors had more HP when running on LPG...
