Re: UGG Annex
Hi Ralph

Why do you move all these elevators, I know they are being
restored and thats great, but what is wrong with the
original location? When you move something that tall how do
you keep them upright without turning over?

Thanks

Re: UGG Annex
Saving elevators? How I wish that were true Roy. On the
contrary, this is one of a very few wooden grain elevators
in Sask. that have been saved and moved. By far the majority
have been demolished and burned. The day is not far away
when you will go a long way to see a small town in Sask.
that still has wooden grain elevators standing. We have one
left right here in town now that is quite likely going to be
demolished in the very near future. An excellent structure
built in 1984 but no longer viable in today's grain handling
system.

Re: UGG Annex
Ralph

I have always enjoyed the old wooden grain elevators, but I
didn't realize that they were built as recent as 1984 I
thought that they were much older. What would be the
capacity of the ones you have pictured? How is the weather
in Canada these days?

Thanks

Re: UGG Annex
Hi Roy,

It's http://redpowermagazine.com/ a site for IH
enthusiasts. It's a great site. I'd say farmphoto and red
power are the best two farming sites on the net.;-)

Re: UGG Annex
Hi Lance, small world eh? Well Roy, those wooden elevators
cover a wide range of time. We had one demolished here in
the fall of 01 that dated back nearly 100 years. Another one
from the 1920s plus another annex built in the mid sixties.
All levelled and burned now and only the one in the above
photo remaining. Unfortunately , its days are numbered
unless some enterprising individual buys it.

Re: UGG Annex
Yep small world Ralph. I really enjoy that site, just as I
do this one. I'd love to take a trip out to the prairies of
Canada someday. Looks like some beautiful country.

Re: UGG Annex
The prairies/parklands are nice Lance but we have some
extremes sometimes. Like this past week. We were the coldest
place in the world on Sunday night. Quite a distinction.
Wind chill in the -40 range. Today is quite an improvement
at 0F and sunshine. In the elevator move photos from last
year at this time it was much warmer and we had very little
snow. This winter has been closer to normal snowfall which
will help alleviate the dry conditions we had last spring.
