Re: NZ Radish Harvest
The radish is an Asian type I believe, grown in NZ &
exported to Asia. Depending on the type of radish that you
grow to eat, the seed may well have originated in NZ, I am
not sure.

Here in Tasmania (Australia) we grow Chinese Cabbage,
Chinese Mustard, Pak Choi, Cabbage, Cauliflower & Canola
(Oilseed Rape) for seed, with the seed exported mostly to
Asia. We cant grow the Radish Seed here as we have too much
Wild Radish (a weed) in the ground, which would contaminate
the seed crop.

The seed cropping is high input/ high return / high risk &
is usually done on a smallish scale (blocks of cabbage are
usually 1-2 Hectares). Many crop protection chemicals are
used, to control weeds, disease & insect pests, with some
crops sprayed 15-20 times during a season.

I hope this helps answer your query :-)
