Macdon 9300 Turbo swather with 942 Multi Crop Special front.

Cressy, Tasmania, Australia.

Has just been swathing a ryegrass seed crop (see my pic in field crops).

Machine is owned by a local harvesting contractor.

Another from the front.

We dont use the wide fronts commonly seen in the USA, Canada & mainland Australia, especially not in crops such as grass seed, where a wide front would create windrows that are too thick & therefore would not ripen evenly.

As a general rule our cereal & canola crops are thicker & higher yielding too, so about 18-20 foot (5.4 - 6 metres) is as wide as we would go, with windrowers / swathers.
