Fennel
Fennel crop (grown for essential oil production), Cressy, Tasmania, 2001.

The crop is a perennial, usually lasting for 4-5 years.

The crop is usually direct harvested with a forage harvester with the harvested crop taken away for steam distillation to remove the anethole (oil). For those unfamiliar with fennel, think aniseed/ licorice taste.

Not alot is grown in the state but they are looking to expand the area produced.
