Re: Fresh Market Broccoli
Another broccoli crop, this time a processing crop (being grown under contract to Simplot) at a farm near Longford, in Northern Tasmania, 1999.

This crop is being grown on raised beds, under a centre pivot irrigator.

Re: Fresh Market Broccoli
I have not seen broccoli grown on this scale. The rows look quite wide.

Re: Fresh Market Broccoli
The beds are based on 72 inch centres (1.81 metres or thereabouts). This block would have been 10-12 Ha (24 - 29 acres).

Most of the broc & other vegies like potatoes & onions are based on 64 inch wheelings (1.6 metres).

The raised beds that we grew poppies on & some guys are growing cereals, canola, Tick beans & lupini beans on are the 72 inch centre ones.
