Lupini beans
Lupini bean crop just starting to flower. Perth, Tasmania 2004
Re: Lupini beans
A close up of the lupinis a bit later on in the season, with seed pods visible.

There is also some ryegrass heads visible (due to patchy weed control).
Re: Lupini beans
This crop is grown for human comsumption & is exported to Italy & the Mediterranean region.

The lupinis must be soaked for 24-48 hours before cooking / eating, as they contain harmful alkaloids.

They are grown under contract to Tasmanian Lupini Enterprises.
