Re: Poppy Harvesters
Another poppy harvester, this time on a John Deere 7000 series tractor. Cressy, Tasmania 2000.

The dual wheels gave better flotation when working on raised beds.

Re: Poppy Harvesters
now i see the steering at the back! :-[
do you know who is converting the JD`s and Massy`s for backward driving?
there is a guy in Germany who convertet his 7020 series JD for reversing jobs.
as far as i know, its Fendt and Valtra only wich are factory-built for that. :-P

Re: Poppy Harvesters
Local machinery dealers here did the conversions jdeere, this tractor is used in normal mode most of the year.

This particular contractor doesnt harvest poppies anymore, so the tractor doesnt need to get reversed anymore.

Re: Poppy Harvesters
you woudent know how much the conversion did cost? :-[
near from here a contractor has got a Fendt 926 only for that reason (at the moment since 5 weeks in the shop with broken Vario) :-(
the rest are all JD`s and he would buy a 8530 if it had reverse setup! :-\

Re: Poppy Harvesters
No sorry my friend I dont.

Some of the contractors have gone out of MF & JD now & gone into Fendts, as apparently the whole console swings around & the reversing setup is simple.

Re: Poppy Harvesters
Thanks JCB :-)

I have posted some other poppy harvesting pictures in other threads too.

They are even growing poppies in parts of the UK now. United Oilseeds were involved then it became United Farmaceuticals (spelt that way) now it has been taken over by Macfarlan Smith (Johnson Mathey), who are a drug maufacturing company based in Scotland.
