silage making 2006
Some pics from the silage making 2006. it was done with a Claas Jaguar 840, a Case IH mx 170 and a JD 7920, both with a 40m3 Tim Thyrgod trailer. Also the Fendt 312 made its job well with a 22m3 trailer. Home the silo there was a Volvo L90E.
Unfortunately this was the last time, because my neigbour is going to sell all his cows next year.:-(

Re: silage making 2006
I come from the south part of denmark, called sønderjylland. I live near a town called haderslev.
The fendt is my neighbours, the other machines are from another farmer, who drivis out for money.

Re: silage making 2006
Why did your neighbour sell his cows. Is it not profitable anymore?
I've been in Bylderup-Bov last year

Re: silage making 2006
well, they have been two about it in the last years, and they wanted to build a big stable for 250 cows but that couldnt give enough money. My neighbour could go on alone, but that means, he has to do everything every day, so that means no holiday, and thats the reason.
and then he also wouldnt have enough time for the kids.

Re: silage making 2006
Get big or get out seems to be the way for dairying in this part of the world.

We have alot of dairy farmers with 400 - 500 cows & bigger now (some over 1000 cows), the smaller guys have mostly gone by the wayside.

I guess that is the same with alot of the farming industries; the smaller family farm makes way for the larger operators, bigger farms & bigger gear.

Re: silage making 2006
Alright I understand. I think it's going too fast in Denmark. Don't know if it is profitable to invest in a modern farm you can manage on your own. Finding GOOD staff is also hard.
