Re: Claas Lexion 600
Maybe the Lexion will have the most HP but the header is not so big as by other brands like NH, JD and Agco

Re: Claas Lexion 600
Kerneels,

I think this must be close to the biggest. Maybe Challenger released a bigger HP model but I remember reading something when the Lexion 600 was released about it being the biggest.

I bet you could get some grain off in a day with this machine none the less :-)

Re: Claas Lexion 600
According to the Claas UK website 431 KW (586 HP) via a V-8 16 Litre Daimler Chrysler engine.

The machine also has a 12000 litre grain tank.

Re: Claas Lexion 600
A quick look around the other major combine manufacturer's sites gives me the following info regarding maximum engine HP of combines on the market;

John Deere; 375 HP,
Case IH; 400 HP,
Challenger; 425 HP,
New Holland; 400 HP.

So, by the looks of this, the Claas Lexion 600 is the biggest combine (HP wise anyway) in the world currently.

Re: Claas Lexion 600
I got all of the figures from the companies US sites, thinking they may have had the most powerful combines.

Re: Claas Lexion 600
I'm not a combine specialist either but Claas has the best technology. The HP of the engine is not necessarily telling all about the combine's performance. It's threshing system is the heart of it and there's the difference to other brands. I worked on a farm in Texas in 2001. Back then the farmer also said that the big Lexion is kicking ass. 2 Lexion can replace 3 "other" combines.
I don't think any combine comes close to the 600 now. The Lexion 600 outperforms the 580 by 20-25% (http://lexion600.com/uk_int/start.html
About the Lexion 600)
Claas has a different price tag - but it's different technology, too.

Re: Claas Lexion 600
I agree Madonno.

The price might be higher but you always pay more for quality. They seem to be the dominant machine in the UK & Europe, not so dominant in Australia yet (have been sold here for years as CAT machines, will be Claas from now on, from an article I read a few months back).
