Travelling Poland
Going to Ukraine by car, I had to go trough Poland of course. This is a view of a main Highway there. There are few like that in Germany and after all, we've invented the " Autobahn" ;-)
It does have speedlimit though.

Re: Travelling Poland
This a harvesting scene along the way. Notice the small fields. Poland always "did" their own way of communism as I understand. People were sometimes allowed to keep their own little farm. Because of that there are a lot of small farm AND big farm enterprises with thousands of hectares.

At least that's what heard anyway. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Re: Travelling Poland
Too bad I didn't have time to drive around more. I would have found it ;-)

There was a lot of places I wanted to see in Poland, but I really only went through there. Time schedule was kind of tight. Ok places is probably not the right word. Maybe farms? :-)

Tell a farmer he has a day of in the summer on a nice day. and where does he go? To the beach? To the pool? No! He just drives around looking at other farms. :-) At least i always do so. :-)

Re: Travelling Poland
I heared that 75% of all Polish farmers is over the age of 70/75 and have no sons that would like to take over there small farms without future in it.

Sooo.. in 25 year I would like to see how Poland manages?

Maybe someone from the Polish community could tell a little bit more about it? I only 'heared' it from my boss who works a lot in Poland, Russia and other country's in Eastern Europe.
(He sell's machinery).

Re: Travelling Poland
It looks like harvest time in Czech Republic or Slovakia because there is Zetor and Bizon is an export version to the old Czechoslovakia (see yellow part of header and typical numbers near grain unload pipe) :-P Nice shots, you're first German who took pictures of Bizon combine. Best regards TOMASZ

Re: Travelling Poland
Thanks for your kind remarks.

@Arcane: I wouldn't know about that. But I can tell you that a lot of farms are very small but very well equipped. So they might be able to cover some of the land that gets on the market.

@Michael: You can drive as fast as you can/want on the german Highways. I always thought of that as trivia. So there are people getting a 160kph (100 mph) average driving long distances. :-D

@ Stu: Glad you like them. Think of it as an early Christmas present.

@ Krasus: Can you maybe tell me what it was like for farmers before 1990? Is what I wrote earlier about right?

Bardzo ciekawe spostrzeżenie na polską wieś: Pozwolili komuniści Polakom gospodarzyć, ale na małych poletkach. Gdyby nie ci mali rolnicy, to by Polska z głodu umarła.
