Re: 4030
Interesting. I have never seen those out here. I have seen the 4230 & the 4020 but not the 4030.

The loader certainly looks a little big, doesnt it :-P

Re: 4030
Cheers Roy, a nice pic :-)

The guy I know over here with the 4230 (also a 2wd but with a cab) has 20000 + hours on his. It was one of the first cabbed tractors in Tasmania when he purchased it new.

It was used in a cultivation & seeding contracting business & in recent years has been working on this guy's farm (now as a sprayer tractor).

I wonder whether these 6000 / 7000 / 8000 series machines will still be going strong in 30 years time?

Best wishes from Tasmania, Australia,

The Cowboy ;-)

Re: 4030
hello Roy,i see in your pic there is a lot of load on it.
i guess the 4030 is more or less the same as a 4230,just smaller tires and engine,it can take a lot.

Re: 4030
Yes, this tractor does a lot of loader work, and without problems, our 4030 has 18.4-34 tires rather than 38" rubber and yes it smaller then the 4230, but at the time these tractors were new you seldom found anything bigger than this tractor here in the Missouri Ozarks, but today you find all sizes

Re: 4030
Don't really know about other parts of the country, but here in Southwest Missouri you will have no trouble in locating 4030 JD's as they are a popular tractor in our area

Re: 4030
this tractor and its larger brothers such as the 4230, 4430, etc are what we call row crop tractors as they are built in Waterloo, Iowa to compare with the tractors made in Meinhamm Germany which are utility tractors and for example we think of the 2940 and 2950-55 series as large utility tractors which are basically the same HP and are less expensive to buy than the Waterloo tractor
