Re: 9200
Hi Matt,
It nice to see the big differences. You manage about 3500
hectare and I 've heard about in farm in south africa which
farms 25000 ha (they have about 120 tractors) and we manage
15 hectare of bulbs.
Ok bulbs are hard to compare with arable farming, but in
holland I think 70-80 hectare is avarage for arable farming
and the biggest farm in Holland manages about 1400 ha.
We drive deutz and our 'biggest' one has 85 HP :-[.
I know a man in holland who drives a STX 375 and I think
that is the biggest tractor in Holland.
I study arable farming and next year we have to make a trip
to a foreigh country and I would like to go to america to
see those big farms.
Well I hope you'll post more nice pics in the future.

Re: 9200
Here a picture of our agroxtra 4.17 with 85 Hp. The thing on
the roof is a kind of silo where we put bulbs in by the
planting so we can do more. The original silo is a lot
smaller. The front loader put the boxes in de silo. I am a
shame that I have no picture of this but I will post a
simular one

Re: 9200
Yeah , i'm from South Africa , and we do have farms of
between 14 - 25 000 hectares , sometimes these farmers buy
120 tractors at once , mainly JD . I visited the States
twice, and its clear that S.African and American farmers
have a lot in common ...On our large farms they mainly grow
corn .
Matt , what is the biggest acreage-size farms in the US you
heard about ??
Cheers.Martino

Re: 9200
Hey guy's
Here in West Australia there are some large acre farms, the
local agriculture newspaper reported of one farmer who
seeded 85,000 acres last season. Unfortunatley for him it
was a very poor season and his return was minimal,I have a
newspaper clipping of his equipment , I'll try to scan it
for you to see

Re: 9200
I just read an article on a farmer named Dan Freeman in
Augusta, Montana U.S.A. Who grows alfalfa, spring wheat, malt
barley, seed oats, and canola on 135,000 acres. To me thats
just unimaginable.

Re: 9200
During 2001 I have worked on a harvest crew in the USA. Near
Byers, Colorado we cut wheat for a guy called Kalcevic
Farms. If I remember Corrctly, they farmed +- 100000 Acres.
The farm even has it's own elevators! They used mostly NH
tractors. They also had something like 28 semi's.

Re: 9200
Soviets actually put some thought into farming? Must of
been hell doing 315,000 acres with horse and oxen

Re: 9200
Yeah Lance, Tyler Farms has been under a little fire as of
late as they were the most subsidized producer in AR and
also they failed to pay for Boll weevil eradication which
was something like $10 an acre. I just read this in paper a
while back. Im in NE AR rice country.

Re: 9200
Hi Drew, I wonder why they didn't pay for boll weevil
eradication? Speaking of that, it's higher here in N.C.,
something like 15-25 dollars an acre I think. Well take
care,

Re: 9200
Theres alot of controversy about it in certain counties as
the ones who arent as affected by it can stop it for less
than the fee they would have to pay. I can see both sides as
with low prices they dont want to spend the extra money if
they dont have too.; I recently read an article that they
might make the outlaw counites start paying. it had been put
before election before but neighboring counties are worried.
If i come across exact price Ill tell you what it is.
