RVM 366384 305 John Deere 4955 vd Tillaar either
John Deere 4955 vd Tillaar

John Deere 4955 TrikeTrac conversion. Article from '93/'93 By that time tractor was owned by contractor Vd Tillaar. Tractor has been used for liquid manure spreading, with a 9,5 cubic meter tank. Traded in for a Vervaet in '95/96 after only 3000H. Tractor is still for sale at the same dealer.....

Photo taken in about the year 2000 at John Deere dealer. Still fitted with manuretank. Tank is out of one piece and hangs on both sides of the tractor.

Internash, can you make a copy of that article of classic tractor?
I don't know what is exact price they ask. But must be pretty high. This dealer is well known off his high prices. That's why there little change over the years in his second hand collection and there are several more oldies like this JD.

Re: John Deere 4955 vd Tillaar
I dont know what the advantage of something like this would be; does anyone else have some thoughts?

Looks too long & awkward to be much good, to me :-[

RVM, Even If I find the magazine I dont have a scanner:-\ but i will try.

Tas, this is designed to reduce ground pressure (Big problem in europe) I think this has only 50psi? of ground pressure per wheel with full tanks.
Anyway, It was not sucssesfull because the tanks dont hold enough slurry and the injectors are not wide enough so it has very low engine hours.

Thanks Internash :-)

Re: John Deere 4955 vd Tillaar
I think the injector is wide enough ( for it's time though ) but they just wanted to invent something in the time there already was a better solution: the Veenhuis and Verveat trikes.

Re: John Deere 4955 vd Tillaar
The same contractor traded this tractor in for a Vervaet Trike and later even bought one of the very few ( or is it the only one? ) Vervaet Quad.

Re: John Deere 4955 vd Tillaar
I read about that too!! I think you are right its the only one, It cost 40,000 euro i think to fit the extra wheel on the vervaet. It is biggest vervaet ever made i think?

Re: John Deere 4955 vd Tillaar
What to you mean with 40000 to fit with extra wheel?? The Quad is a totally different concept as the trike so it isn't just a trike fitted with an extra wheel.

Re: John Deere 4955 vd Tillaar
I guess due to environmental regulations, the slurry now has to be injected into the ground, as opposed to the traditional way of spreading it on top?

Re: John Deere 4955 vd Tillaar
I think the current Trike XXL model can carry more cubic metres than the Quad.

Re: John Deere 4955 vd Tillaar
Yes in Holland you have to inject al manure due to reduce emission.

Re: John Deere 4955 vd Tillaar
Here a picture of the Quad. It can carry 20 m3.

Trike XXL can carry 24 m3.

Re: John Deere 4955 vd Tillaar
What i mean is 40,000 euro extra compared to trike.
Spreading on the surface is still allowed in most places over here

Re: John Deere 4955 vd Tillaar
I guess there has to be witholding zones observed near water courses & houses, etc Internash?

Re: John Deere 4955 vd Tillaar
Yes thats right, Some places have time restrictions (no spreading in some months of the year) Some places there are ground water restrictions. But mainly it is in England. You can get a map of "nitrate vunrable zones" from the net i think.
